Lightning Run. Fitness GIVEAWAY!

What's faster than lightning?

So, it’s been raining all day and I didn’t get to run for very long. I waited for the rain to steady out a little bit – hoping that the lightning would subside (which it did for about 20 minutes). As soon as I got to the park to run the Thursday Three Mile, it started lightning again. I waited – gave it a ten minute rule of no lightning – and decided I had enough time for a mile run. There is nothing like a mile run when you are unsure of lightning. I ran a mile in 8’20”. What?! Yes! I knew I didn’t have much time for more than a mile so I gave it a solid effort. My breathing was much heavier than it normally is, but I decided that I should give it a go to see what kind of time I could make. It rocked my socks off (or was that the lightning that showed up not 1 minute after I was done?). No, it was the run. It felt good.

F.W.A.P. FITNESS GIVEAWAY
(fit with a purpose)

As you can see, I’m coming up on 300 miles for the year. I have a tracker there on the right side of the page at all times. For those of you that have not been here long – my original goal for this year was to walk/jog/run 1,010 miles in 2010. My goals have kind of shifted to a new focus since the start of this blog, but I have kept that goal. I’ve hit a few rough patches, read here, but have been blessed with a quick recovery. To celebrate my 300 miles (which will be coming up in just a few short days) – I’m doing a GIVEAWAY!

I’d love to say that someone contacted me and offered their products to give away – but that didn’t happen and this stuff is directly from my hard work to your winning hands. I think I picked out some cool things for it! Who would’ve known that I would have already crossed the state of Missouri by foot?! Crazy cool.

In the Giveaway are some cool items. Gold’s gym 65cm Exercise/Body Ball, Jump Rope, and Resistance Tubes, Starter Water Bottle w/watch inside, pedometer, and the newest issue of KC Fitness Magazine (for the local flavor).

I’m biased, but I think this is a good Giveaway!

The prizes would be great for workouts at home because I don't have a gym membership. Plus my kids could hit each other with the ball and tie each other up with the resistance bands. :) (JK)

I'd like these prizes because they are awesome. I'm especially interested in the resistance bands and the water bottle with watch. I gotta keep hydrated and punctual. Punctuated, if you will.

My favorite simple exercise...that's a hard one. I love them all. But I would pick squats. Or maybe push-ups, since I'm really trying to do two in a row right now. Real ones that is. But squats work so many muscle groups! So difficult to pick.

This giveaway, I'm in! That's like a super awesome prize pack :)

Oooo, I follow. But you know this. I almost stalk you religiously. Well, no. But in a healthy way.

I was even here for the name + layout change and prior to the ankle brace AND even the Seth at home challenge (that thing was awesome).

Yes sir. You've come a long way!

I'd love to have these prizes because having moved into a smaller place, I don't the space for much work out stuff.

I'm currently being tested for cancer, so exhaustion has kept me indoors more and more of late. Having something handy will help me get rid of that excuse!

My favorite simple exercise is jogging with my dog. It's simple. Just means I tie on some shoes. And he's a boxer. He LOVES to run!

I would LOVE these items because I don't have a gym membership and can't afford one. As a stay at home mommy I would be able to use most of those items while my little one naps. My main source of exercise is walking (since I bummed out my foot) so a pedometer would be AMAZING. And,lastly, my birthday is on Monday so it would be a killer birthday present!!

2nd comment...

My favorite post of yours is a newer one (I'm a recent follower). It's the Running Guide for the Overweight Runner. You had very real, practical tips in there. And, as usual, it was very encouraging.

3rd comment..

My favorite simple exercise to do is jump and jacks. It brings me back to the days of being the fat kid in school and not being able to do them. I'm, currently but not forever, a fat adult doing jump and jacks but I'm confident while doing them. I don't care who sees me huffing and puffing because I am making ME healthier. Plus, I don't mind getting sweaty.

8'20"!!!!!

Dude, that's lightening fast!

What's up speed demon?!

I'm passing on the give away because I know I'd let them collect dust since working out at home just doesn't work for me.

Good luck everyone!

My favorite (the one that makes me say bad, bad words) is the Diagonal Woodchop. I do it with a 7lb medicine ball, sets of 15-20, 3 reps.

Here is a video from ehow if you wanna see how it is done:

I'd love to win... I actually got an invitation to a gym here - 7 days of free use - and I never got there! I was rather amazed because I'd been wanting to join a gym and this one was a nice one, but I really didn't have the time to go! I literally never made it to my first session. My life is busy so I work out at home. Right now that consists of my treadmill and floor exercises. So winning tools that would help my home workouts would be wonderful!

Sayre said...

I'm not sure I have A favorite - but I really enjoy the posts about running.

Sayre said...

I wrote a post on my blog about your blog and this giveaway. I hope you like it!

My favorite simple exercise? Squats and bicep curls. They make me feel powerful!

Wow. Love this post. I just started my (mostly love) affair with running in the last few months I can relate to everything you are saying. I also believe that running is mostly mental too.

On another note, I noticed you mentioned P90X... I'm that starting up today. :)
