A Running Guide for the Overweight Runner

We're in this together & a question.

Today I received a comment on my last post – (a must read) – by Chris that really made me think about everything. What we do on the health front will make one of the largest impacts in our lives. There are multiple reasons in why we do this and that is perfectly acceptable, but what we have in common is that we all have the same starting point.

Some of my readers have gone through the hard times and trials as an overweight person trying to lose weight and some are just now learning that their life has worth. I think it would be safe to say though that once that person decides and acts on the notion to lose weight and become healthy – that they just left the “I am not satisfied with who I physically am” group. That’s a tough group to leave because that group is comfortable, easy, and requires little effort.

As you know, I am huge on encouragement and the rest of this post will focus on the people that need the encouragement right now.

The first person that I want you to send some love to is Chris. Chris is a reader of mine and a blog that is one of my “Must Reads”. She met a huge goal today in that she has now officially lost 100 pounds. She lost 100 pounds! I can’t imagine how awesome that must feel. She wrote an incredible post about the awesome accomplishment. Go give her some love.

The next person I want you to flood with encouragement is Anthony. Anthony is attempting to undergo the Insanity program, c25k, a master’s program, and life in general. He has been busting his butt to take on everything at a level that is crazy…insane. Go show your support to him too!

The last person I want you to go fill her comment box up is Ashley. She just had a weigh in and year to date – she has lost 22 pounds since January! She has had her ups and downs so far this year like the rest of us but continues to stay positive. GO help her out too!

As for myself today…I’ll just say that I’m happy to send you their way. I’ll keep my good news for another day!

What was the best compliment that you’ve ever received?

I think the best compliment I ever recieved was from my mom...she called me one day and said out of the blue..."I admire your morals'.
I hope to be admired for my character. It is what I have spent my life working on...I will never be all I hope to be, but hope to improve daily.
I want to be seen as honest, trustworthy, compassionate, caring, PATIENT...LOL.
um, still have a lot of work to do.
But by far, that was one of the best.

Awe Seth, Thank you so much for the support! I appreciate it more than you know! Of course, making huge changes in our lives is very difficult at times, but with the support of wonderful people like you, it makes it seem like a much smaller mountain to climb. This post may be one of the best compliments/support that I've ever received along with one from a complete stranger. My mother and I were in AT&T last year because my phone wasn't working. My mom tends to lose her patience rather quickly while I stay much more calm. She started arguing with the woman working there so I cut her off and began to explain the trouble in a much "softer" tone. After I was done, the woman was sort of taken-a-back and she asked me how old I was. When I responded, she was surprised and told me she couldn't get over that well spoken and mature I was for my age. It made me feel very accomplished and smart. And I still remember it to this day. What was your best compliment?

Aw, so many goodies :) I'm glad you're always up for positive energy. I really think success, especially when it comes to healthy living and weight loss, stems from positivity and I'm glad you radiate it.

Hope your shred went well with the wife!

I think the biggest compliment is when someone notices my success with weight loss and asks me for advice!

Love to read encouraging posts like this one :) With such a long way to go it helps to read about others successes!

The all time best compliment I guess I have received would be from my mother. She is a very white collar work orientated womens lib kinda lady and I am a stay at home have seven children, homeschoolin just so NOT a womans lib kinda lady :)))

One day we were talking on the phone and she said she envied my ability to do it. I asked her what "it" was and she said my ability to stay home and be a housewife. She had tried for one year when we were young and she went back to work, not because we needed the money, but because she needed her job to fulfill her. She really made me feel good... that maybe she wasn't disappointed in my choice after all :)

The best compliment that I ever received was at a 5K race last summer. In the months leading up to the race, I had concentrated on strength training, core work, and clean eating. When I was stretching before a race, a girl that I know came up to me and said, "Man, you look intimidating!" I am not a fast runner by any means, but knowing that I looked like one meant the world to me!

You know, I truly don't know what the best compliment I've received is. And it isn't because I haven't gotten them; I think it's because I'm such a blessed person, I've gotten so many, and I just can't pick one.

I can tell you, though, that after the outpouring of love I got after my most recent weight gain, I got a boost from a lot of people (you definitely included) that certainly helped. :)

Hi Seth! It looks like I missed quite a bit while I was on vacation! Congrats on a strong week and also for supporting so many people. Good luck with your new challenge!

What a great supporter you are. I'm sorry I didn't find you sooner but glad to know you now. Thanks for your comments too. I look forward to following along.

Hmmm best compliment... I think it came from my son in a round about way. He said "what are you trying to be a model or something" one day when I got all fixed up and I said "Nicholas do you think I'm pretty" and he said "Yep", that little yep brought the biggest smile ever to my face. Coming from a 12 yr old now that's something lol.

I'm definitely going to check out those blogs now!

The best compliment recently was when my husband said he noticed that all my hard work is paying off!

Thanks for the encouragment on my blog, eating in moderation is still a work in progress but I'm getting much better at it.

Best compliment? I can't settle on one. It's a tie between all the people who I haven't seen in a few months that do kind of a double take when they see me, before complimenting my weight loss. Maybe this is vanity, but I love the double take!
