Windy 2 Mile. Awesome Fitness GIVEAWAY Winner!!

Windy 2 Mile.

Today was a very windy day. I didn't run on Tuesday (which through me off schedule) and didn't get to run yesterday due to that unexpected trip. I got to run today and it was a rough and tough run. Thursday is the three mile run for the week, but it became the Thursday 2 mile today. I actually felt way over pace in the wind but was actually in the 8'50"s the first mile. Second mile was a little slower with about a 9'30" mile. It wasn't a bad run mentally, this one was just fighting the element of wind.

My 5k is just over a week away (Yes!) and I am still shooting for that sub30. I know that I can run it as I have before -- I just want to make sure I don't over process it while I'm running. If you are mentally drained while running - It doesn't take long for the physical draining to catch up. Overall, it was a good run -- windy with a side of windy -- , but good nonetheless!

Thanks for all of the compliments with the head shot comparison pics. I didn't expect the "good lookin" bits and pieces, but hey - I'll take 'em where I can get them!

I know this is why you all are reading this Post. It's because I am about to announce the winner of the Awesome Fitness Giveaway...but you'll have to wait.

If you are on Twitter - go check me out.

You can check up with the latest things that I am doing -- some of my newest run times -- and some nonsense as well.

I'm absolutely awful at taking compliments. If you figure it out, let me know.

I pass out.
lol.
um, but I hear you are supposed to say 'Thank you'.
not...
'oh, well yeah...but I have a ton more weight to lose."
or,
"Well, you should have seen the size of my *ss before'.

just..thank you.

And YEAH FOR KATIE J.

I have been working on the compliment thing myself. So far my strategy is to hold my tongue of anything negative about myself in response to the compliment, then say thank you and move on. I don't even give myself time to go over the compliment of whether I believe it or not. It is working right now getting the negativity out of myself.

I don't. So if you come up with something let me know.

Congrats Katie J! :)
I am bad about this and do not always succeed, but when someone pays me a compliment, even though I may not feel it is true about myself, I try hard to just say thanks :)

Damn. Your giveaway was awesome. In case you ever want to host a giveaway that only has one entry (me!), my birthday is in July. Haha, kidding :)

Anyway, remember to taper your training. Run one (at most two) speedy 5K runs and then rest up. Fresh legs man, you'll need them. I think I ran once the whole week before my 5K. Don't forget you'll have the adrenaline from race day and all the other folks running with you to motivate you along.

Make sure you have some solid tunes, even though I don't remember a single song I listened to. I was in the zone.

Keep pushing and running! I know you will try your best to sub-30.

When I first lost weight, I sucked at taking compliments. I would nod, say "thank you" and then complain to the husband "What was I a COW before? I mean jeez!" It would almost offend me the way people reacted about my weight loss. Then someone said to me "You know how hard it is to lose 5lbs and keep it off? Well, you've lost 40lbs. Everyone knows how hard 5lbs is to lose and keep off...of course they are going to be really shocked, happy and proud of you for losing as much as you have!"

It was then that I realized that people were genuine. It became easier to truly accept the compliments then. :)

Oops, as for the compliments, I have been trying to graciously accept them but it does make me nervous.

Great job getting out there to run in the wind and such good times too. I need to not be such a wimp about the weather.

Compliments can be hard to take, but the thing I've found that helps me take compliments is having high self-esteem. In the past, I never believed the compliments. Now, I'm usually in a place where I can say, "Thank you." And that was an awesome giveaway. :) Congrats Katie!

Sorry I'm a bit late with this - but congratulations on entering Onederland! Your progress is simply amazing! :)

As for taking compliments - sometimes I catch myself denying them, but I usually just try to be gracious and say thanks!
