The first challenge I took part in, I lost 17 lbs. Here I am a month and a half later having maintained that weight. I did dip just under the 190 lbs mark, but it is a day to day battle on whether the 180s shows its face. Throughout the next six weeks - I plan on ditching the 190s completely and be close to getting rid of 180s. I'm ready for this challenge.
In a month I will be officiating my sister's wedding. That will be four weeks into the challenge and I'm thinking that the lower 180s will be in store for that day.
There is still room for a couple more participants as of Monday, July 19th, to join in on the challenge. You would need to let me know by 10:00pm Central Time tonight.
Running this morning was killer again. The heat and humidity will not let up. I ran mid-morning and have come to the realization that in this weather - walking breaks are smart. I did take some pretty cool measures to beat the heat.
I made a visor. I like to wear hats when I am running, but in this heat - I can't do it because I am then only retaining that heat - which would lead to an overheating and exhaustion. I took an old Kansas City Royals hat of mine and cut the top of it off. It worked great. It was still so hot today that my visor was dripping with sweat though.
At least that part is over with today (I love running, but hate heat index of 110 or whatever it was). I do still have a workout to do today - some P90X! I'm looking forward to the challenge and am determined to rock it!
Discipline pushes limits.
and that is the truth.
and that is the truth.
What thing are you stoked about that has you pushing yourself harder?!

RECOVERY! RECOVERY!
I can't work out much at all right now. Not for lack of wanting to! In fact, the jury is still out as to whether my daily mile plus walks since Saturday have been a good thing, or a bad thing. Saddly, this morning I woke up with my shirt being drenched in yellow oozy stuff around one of my incisions. DOH! I guess that means I have to take it slow. :( But I can't wait to get back on the horse (well, treadmill) here! I got my bike fixed up at the bike shop before my surgery and I haven't had a chance to ride it yet.
I am hoping for a good long ride on Saturday - so we'll see how the belly holds up! Can't wait for there to be LESS belly!
I'm still hopeful that I can drop some weight if I watch my eating and make sure I drink enough water (always a challenge in the summer). I am only 1 1/2 lbs above my pre-surgery weight. Obviously by the oozing, I have some swelling still and inflammation. But I refuse to let this set me back too far!
Unfortunately, I have been a little lax here lately in the exercise arena. I need to step it up a bit. I'm working on a more detailed exercise plan...(I'm a list maker kind of gal)to help me prepare for my 5K in October.
I am stoked about getting under 200 for the first time in 11 years. I will get there, and soon!
getting to my ultimate goal...It's within sight and yesterday I remembered why I wanted to get there.
You can do this...let's see the 180's. I am headed for the 140's.
Im so ready to be at my goal weight. Im 7lbs away and if I lose that weight, Im pretty sure my running will get faster. So that is pushing me harder because Im so CLOSE!
keep up the good work! you are an inspiration!
Registering my husband and I for the Hershey Half Marathon (we're each running half) is what has us both super stoked to push harder. We've never done anything like this before and it will be a real milestone in our fitness journey. It's very hot and humid here in the east too, so we train at 5:30am
to avoid the oppressive air which makes it really hard to breathe. Good luck with your challenge!
Lorraine :)
I am stocked about leaving the 190's. This is the first week I have not had to weigh in. I maintained my weight and even losed. I'm now 189.2 that's huge for me. I am also stoked that I have jogged a mile without stopping. Completed 2of my goals this week now on to new ones. Thank You so much Seth for your weightloss challenge and your blog. Without them I don't know if I could of done this.

I think its great that you have maintained your weight and now you have set a new goal. You will make it to your new goal. I like the before and after pics. Good Luck
oh yes. That darn humidity messed me up this morning, too! 5-minute walk break, total. First time I ever had to stop mid-run. Grrr!
You should market your new hat/visor ....call it a vat or a hisor and make a million!
I know it's a ways off yet, but I'm going to say it now before I forget...have fun officiating at your sisters wedding. My dad did mine and I thought it was so much more special to have the two best men in my life up there with me...three if you count my brother who was also up on stage as a groomsman....oh wait, four...if you include my nephew as my ring-bearer. But you get the drift....soo special!
Congrats on the weight loss! Keep it up.
Also--love the Royals hat/visor. Gotta represent KC!
I am stoked that I am only 10 weeks away from my one year anniversary since I started my new healthy lifestyle! I'm stoked that I'm running the Disney half marathon in January! I'm stoked that I didn't let a few struggles and setbacks last month derail me permanently.
Good luck in your challenge...you ROCK.
I too am working towards a family wedding. My brother gets married in October and I'm standing with him in the wedding party. I'm working hard to be down 100lbs by the wedding date. Its been an awesome motivator.
Good luck in your challenge - I wish I could make myself run more often in the humidity like you are!
Way to go! I reckon this challenge will be great for you!
