health insurance.
My wife and I had been without health insurance for a while and we finally found something that was affordable and decent. It might not be the greatest health insurance, but it works for now. I was a little nervous as I signed up for the insurance because of my experience before. It's no secret that we work on a limited budget and we try to make the most out of our money. My experience before with signing up for health insurance is that after I was quoted an amount - and sent in the application - we received back that the risk assessment came back higher and our payment would be 100+ dollars more per month than what was quoted. I asked them why --- it was because of my weight. I've lost some weight if you have not been able to see from my pictures and I am able to say that it did not affect the risk assessment. We were approved. I like the way that sounds.health scores.
It kind of makes me think about credit scores and such. Well, there is a health score and so many people do not care about their health score until they have a health scare. It's actually quite a bit alike (credit score & health score). Think about it.
-You are free to do more without limitations.
-People are more willing to trust you b/c of the care you put into yourself.
-Through the many studies, it's almost safe to say that better treatment comes with a better score.
I don't think it's much of a stretch to see that better health scores allow more freedom to get what you want rather than settling for less. Just an idea.

Week 1 on the challenge I am hosting is over and it is off to a great start for many people! I am including in this challenge and am off to an okay start. I knew that week 1 wouldn't be as stellar as others because of my recent birthday. I knew that I was going to indulge in some things that I wouldn't typically - I didn't go overboard though. Here is my weigh-in picture from yesterday.

Good analogy on the health insurance score. I guess we'll all be facing that soon.
My husband and I live without insurance. It's scary, but we both have preexisting conditions so it's out of our price range.
Great weigh in, by the way! You are doing amazing!
I had trouble getting health insurance at one point because I had a pre-existing (yet not life threatening) condition. After this surgery, it's been a handy thing to have though.
I'll admit, I took my health a LOT more seriously when the "cancer" word reared it's ugly head!
My goal is to lose 10 lbs next month - starting date is gonna be 8/4 (after my stitches come out). :) Can't WAIT to get back to working out!
Don't even get me started. Your comment page isn't my forum to go off on a rant. lol
Congratulations on your 1.6 pounds down.
We've always had health insurance, but since hubby's company took a dive and he got a new job we don't. It's weird, but I'm not worried about it. Stretches my faith a little.
I am so glad my hubby is retired military. We have tri care for life. It's cheap and it is comprehensive. I worry for my girls as they get older. Great weigh in pick and goodloss in your first week. Keep up the good work.
Honestly having lived in Canada and now in New Zealand, we've never really NEEDED Health Insurance because our health care has been taken care of. We are considering getting it, but we're waiting til I lose some more weight and The Man has been smoke free for longer.
I like your analogy :-)
When I was under my parents' health insurance, good thing they couldn't deny me or else I would've been denied. So many risks! And then I had student insurance, so that was ok. And now I'm in "less risk" range and still under student insurance. But man, I can only imagine what it's like. My mom gets denied all the time for pre-existing conditions, or the price is extremely outrageous.
Maybe if Americans moved more and ate more raw foods, health care wouldn't be so expensive.
Great analogy and great weigh in!
I've been down the road of un-affordable health insurance because of weight...no fun. Congrats on losing the weight and getting insurance!!!
Congrats on getting your health insurance and not being subject to the extra costs from your risk assessment. Must be a satisfying feeling!
Happy belated birthday!
Congratulations on your 1.6 pounds less to carry around!
